The primary work is a modular sculpture of prints framed in recycled wood that lay out to 25’ x 18’. Each print can be stood up on its own or combined into makeshift structures.
Images of the freedom and beauty of Hayao Miyazaki’s imagined western landscapes from Howl’s Moving Castle are juxtaposed against the harsh realities of Japanese American internment camps.
This accompanying book incorporates two monoprint accordions that each unfurl to over 9 feet long. The two prints mirror each other, exploring the struggle of finding one’s place trapped between two worlds.
